What If You Overstay Your Egypt E-visa?
It is never a good idea to overstay your visa no matter which country you visit; the laws in Egypt are no different. If you overstay your visa, you will break the specific visa’s terms and conditions as well as the country’s immigration and visa policies. This can lead to drastic consequences such as a fine or travel ban. If the government decides to ban you from entering Egypt, you will not be able to get a travel permit in the future or as long as the ban stays. Therefore, if you realize your visa is about to expire, contact the relevant authorities quickly.
Overstaying your e-visa in Egypt can result in a fine. The amount you need to pay depends on the duration of visa expiration and the length of time you have overstayed in Egypt. Generally, if a traveler overstays for two weeks, no fine is imposed on the traveler. On the other hand, overstaying your visa for up to three months will result in a USD 100 penalty. If you overstayed for over three months, you would be charged accordingly.
The fines will be paid at the airport when you leave Egypt. This could take some time as the airports are busy areas, so you might need to wait for your turn in the queue. Therefore, we suggest you arrive at the airport well ahead of your flight so that you have enough time to pay the fine, clear customs and other security procedures, and board the plane on time.
